Phil trained at theological college for 3 years in Edgbaston, Birmingham during the mid-70s. After graduating from Bible College his first church was in Runcorn, Cheshire. After seeing considerable growth in the church, three years later he found himself moving to pastor a church in the valleys of South Wales in the town of Merthyr Tydfil. Phil moved from Wales after seeing the church grow and moved to Loughborough for the first time where he pastored the local Elim Pentecostal church for almost 8 years. It was here he experienced major growth in the church holding four services on a Sunday to accommodate the entire congregation. From there he moved to become the Regional Superintendent of the London Region of the Elim Pentecostal Churches, where he oversaw over 130 local churches, branch works and satellite congregations and their 200+ ministers. Six or so years later he moved back to Loughborough in Leicestershire to establish New Springs UK and New Springs City Church Loughborough.
Phil originally comes from Stoke-on-Trent and is married to Helen who comes from Kirkintilloch near Glasgow. She is also a pastor at New Springs. Phil and Helen have two grown-up sons Nathan and Matthew and three grandsons. Matthew passed into God’s presence suddenly and unexpectedly in August 2011, aged 29.
Phil’s hobbies include TV drama, creative arts, reading and football. He supports Port Vale F.C. (he and 3 others!).
Phil’s ministry is visionary, inspirational and motivational. Humour features a lot when he speaks. He is definitely a big man with a big vision.
Helen studied theology in the mid-70s at the Birmingham Bible Institute and has been in the ministry over 35 years. She is passionate about God and is eager for people to know God personally and to fulfil their God-given destiny and calling in Him. It is a constant thrill for her to see the grace of God at work transforming people.
She is particularly involved in prayer, pastoral care and administration.
She loves participating in extreme and dangerous sports! In fact, if you know Helen you know nothing could be further from the truth! She enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, going to the theatre, listening to motivational and inspirational speakers and living life to the full.
